ADA’s attitude toward liquid fertilizers is, in a sense, “to make up for shortages.” The three major nutrients for water plants, nitrogen, phosphate and potassium, are not equally furnished inside the aquarium. The amount of nitrogen and phosphate are usually excessive from leftovers of fish food, fish’s excretion and dead leaves. On the other hand, the amount of potassium tends to run short. For the healthy growth of water plants, usually there is no need to add more nitrogen nor phosphate, but we do need to supplement the potassium level of the water. Brighty K was created for this purpose. ADA came up with the idea of the potassium supplement based on our careful daily observations of water plants; it was the time when many fertilizers for water plants, like the ones for terrestrial plants, contained both nitrogen and phosphate. We noticed that the process of photosynthesis was promoted as potassium was added to the aquariums.
Moreover, the lack of several trace elements (iron, magnesium, manganese, molybdenum, etc…) was also observed in the well-grown planted aquariums, and there, the colors of leaves started fading. A small amount of these trace elements also had to be added each day. Here we introduced the Green Brighty series, and ADA created STEP 1 to 3 in terms of the combination ratios of the trace elements. For water plants, the speed of their growth is not always same at each stage – the sprouting time, the growing period and the period of maturity. And the environment inside the aquarium is also changing constantly; as time goes by, the quality of the water becomes oxidized. Taking the STEP 1 through STEP 3 is the method to meet the nutritional needs of water plants as the mature. ADA employed the design of a nozzle which pumps out 1cc of fertilizer per pump so that everybody could take care of this issue with ease.
The supplement of potassium, the method of STEP 1,2 and 3, and the one-pump style nozzle are the answers to the issues aquarists face.

Green Brighty Special SHADE103-0122 SHADE (250ml) Plants such as Ferns require only mild lighting and grow slowly.
